The Flying Burrito Brothers – Live 1976

The American country rock band The Flying Burrito Brothers was formed in Los Angeles in 1968 by Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman. The band is still considered one of the forefathers of the Americana style, without which later bands like the Eagles or Poco would not have existed. Eagles guitarist Bernie Leadon was a member of the Burritos from 1969 to 1971. The band broke up in 1972, but reformed two years later with a new lineup. After touring extensively, the new Burritos recorded “Flying Again”, which was released on Columbia in 1975, and the critically acclaimed “Airborne” a year later. Skip Battin of the Byrds had joined the Burritos in the meantime, and in the line-up of Gib Gilbeau, “Sneaky” Pete Kleinow, Joel Scott Hill, Skip Battin and ex-Dillards drummer Ed Ponder they went on a world tour to promote the two Columbia albums live. Supporting act: Scottish singer Barbara Dickson (who performed “January, February” and “Caravan” with Mike Batt, among others). The Flying Burrito Brothers played their only concert in Germany on October 4, 1976 at the sold-out Post-Aula in Bremen. Radio Bremen was there that night to record the event. The result: another Americana gem from the then busy and hard-working country rockers.
