The Duisburg band Bröselmaschine was founded in 1968 by the Duisburg musician and music teacher Peter Bursch and the Duisburg artist Willi Kissmer. The band members not only played together, they also lived together in a community, following the example of the legendary Kommune 1 in Berlin. At the end of the 1960s, the Bröselmaschine was considered to be one of the first German rock bands.
From 24.8. – 16.9.2018 the cubus Kunsthalle in Duisburger Kantpark presents the exhibition “It was 50 years ago today” for the 50th anniversary with a photo and film documentation and instruments of the band. The exhibition gives an overview of the stations of the successful Duisburg band and shows original posters, photos and other exhibits.
At the same time BRÖSELMASCHINE will play live on August 26, 2018 at the summer festival in the Lehmbruck Museum and on August 29 on the open-air stage in Mülheim.
